🌱 Riverhead Charter School Expansion + Man Charged With Gunshot: PD

Hey, Riverhead. I'm back to get you up to speed on everything you need to know about what's going on around town.
First, today's weather:

Here are the top three stories in Riverhead today:
- Last week, Riverhead Charter School was granted the biggest expansion in its history, allowing it to incorporate grades 11 and 12. The New York State Board of Regents renewed the school's charter for a full five-year term. The renewal included approval for an increase in maximum enrollment from 850 students to 1,244. - A Mastic Beach man was arrested and charged Tuesday with firing a gun at a Riverhead apartment complex earlier in May, police said. According to Riverhead Town police, on May 20, a call came in about a disturbance involving someone with a gun in the west-side parking lot, near Building J, at the Riverpointe Apartments on East Main Street. Police determined that a single gunshot was fired at the location. (Riverhead Patch)
- Officials are eyeing a new three-story town hall on Howell Avenue as a solution to the town's space problems. The current Town Hall at 200 Howell Avenue would be renovated for use as a town court facility while the police department would expand into the area currently used by the court at the shared facility at 210 Howell Avenue. - Midway Crossing, a multi-billion dollar development project in Ronkonkoma, will connect LIRR Ronkonkoma Station to MacArthur Airport by a 1,800-foot pedestrian walkway. In between, there will be a massive commercial cluster that would include a convention center, indoor/outdoor entertainment venues, retail space, hotel, and a life sciences complex. (LongIsland.com)
