The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Riverhead.

Morning, people of Riverhead! It's me again, Diane Witek, your host of the Riverhead Daily.
First, today's weather:
Some sun, then clouds; colder. High: 39, low: 27.
Here are the top stories today in Riverhead:
- On Tuesday, Autumn Tucker, Ashley Mariana and Kiaralyn Delgado all returned to the Little Flower Children's Services Facility in Wading River, Riverhead Police Department said. No reports on why or how they left the facility. (Riverhead Patch)
- A strategic plan to guide the Riverhead Central School District's goals for budgeting and learning for the next five years is in the works. A steering committee charged with formulating the plan will begin meeting next week, according to Superintendent Augustine Tornatore. "My goal is to be able to offer as many opportunities as we can for our students, but with a conservative tax levy increase," he added. "And of course, that needs careful planning." (RiverheadLOCAL)
- Looking to buy a new home, but shopping online is a turn-off? That's why open houses are so convenient: A chance to try before you buy! Patch has listed the two latest properties to hit the local market, with information included on the next scheduled open house. See the addresses, photos, prices and bedroom/bath information for all properties listed — such as a house with 3 beds and 1 bath for $399,000, and another in the Flanders area with 2 beds and 1 bath for $299,000. (Riverhead Patch)
- Tuesday night a man was physically assaulted during an Aquebogue burglary. At 7:40 p.m., a 911 call came in from a resident of Hobson Drive, who said that his home had just been burglarized by an unknown person who assaulted him and removed money from his bedroom. The person then fled the scene in a gray pickup heading east on Hubbard Avenue. The resident sustained minor injuries and was treated at Peconic Bay Medical Center, police said. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Riverhead Police at 631-727-4500. (Patch)
