  1. First Case Of Omicron Reported In Suffolk County. Gov. Kathy Hochul, along with New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, announced that four patients had been confirmed with the variant. One case was found on Long Island in Suffolk County which involved a woman, 67, who was vaccinated. "No cause for alarm," Hochul said. "We just want to make sure that the public is aware of information when we receive it." (Suffolk Times)
  2. New Restaurant Proposed By Suffolk Theater Owner For East Main Street. Castaldi is seeking to build a two-story restaurant on a Peconic Riverfront property adjacent to the Turkuaz Grill restaurant. Town Building and Planning Administrator Jefferson Murphree said in a staff report that the .06-acre property is being proposed for a two-story, 4,031-square-foot, wood-frame restaurant with 24 seats proposed on the first floor and 97 seats on the second, Murphree said.   3. Small Business Owners In Riverhead Hope Loyal Customers Will Shop Locally This Holiday Season. The Tanger Mall off the Long Island Expressway in Riverhead is a destination for many, sandwiched amid a whole host of big box stores, but drive a few miles to Main Street and a whole new world beckons.   4. Riverhead Delays Town's Loose-leaf Pickup To Jan. 3. Riverhead's Highway Department has announced it will not commence pick up of loose leaves from the curbs of residents' homes until Jan. 3. The Town Board voted 3-1 on Nov. 10 to require the department to undertake and complete loose leaf pickup by Nov. 30. However, a recent notice on the town's website informed residents of the delay.
