Riverhead High School Class Of 2018 Graduates

"Be lifelong leaders. The road ahead is yours to define."

RIVERHEAD, NY — Tears of joy and smiles of pride were abundant on Saturday as parents, friends, teachers and administrators gathered to watch members of the Riverhead Central School District's Class of 2018 receive their diplomas during the district’s moving commencement exercises.

In addition to a flag salute led by the NJROTC, student musicians sang the national anthem and “Remember Me” by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, the district said.

The accomplishments of the members of the Class of 2018 were celebrated by a number of speeches; Superintendent of Schools Dr. Aurelia Henriquez encouraged students to call upoin their passions for the betterment of society.

“Be lifelong leaders,” she said. “The road ahead is yours to define.”

In his commencement address, Principal Charles Regan urged students to leave a legacy. “As you go through life and take up causes, take that next step and make a difference," he said.

Both valedictorian Juliette Lehman and salutatorian Olivia Dickerson shared memories from their years in the Riverhead Central School District and wished their classmates happiness going forward.

“The years ahead will change us, but always be resilient,” Juliette said.

“Be excited,” Olivia said. “There are endless opportunities in front of us.”

Class president Madison Cohen and Kimberlyn Ligon, student government body president, shared highlights of the four years the Class of 2018 shared.
