Riverhead High School Faculty Member Wins First Place At Research Fair

Riverhead High School faculty member Patrick Burke received first place at Stony Brook University’s annual Educational Leadership research fair in June for his research and his development of a creative program on teacher-based “effective” professional development: Reciprocal Peer Teaching (RPT).
The program was created by Burke as an effective way to ensure quality teacher professional development that will ultimately lead to a more effective classroom for both the teacher and the students.

At the annual event, organized by Dr. Todd Pittinsky, Director of Research Educational Leadership Programs, graduate students from different school districts throughout Long Island were asked to create a research essay-project and showcase their findings to a panel of judges, which included Dr. Robert Moraghan, Director of Educational Leadership Program, and Dr. Robert Scheidet, the Faculty and Internship Director, as well as the directors from the English and Linguistics departments.
