Riverhead IHOP Burglarized: Police
Someone broke a window and made off with cash from the register, police say.
RIVERHEAD, NY — Police are searching for whoever burglarized the Riverhead IHOP Thursday.
According to Riverhead Town Police, at 11:03 p.m., a report came in about a burglary at the IHOP, located on Old Country Road. An employee at IHOP reported that while the business was closed, someone broke a southwest side window, police said.
The burglar then entered the business through the window and removed an unknown amount of currency from the cash register, police said.

After being confronted by the employee the thief fled the area on foot, police said.
The Suffolk County Sheriff's K-9 Unit was notified and responded; a K-9 search was conducted but no one was found, police said.
