For the first time last year, the Riverhead Central School District Administrator’s Association organized the Run to Remember Run/Walk as a memoriam to students, teachers, staff and loved ones who have died.

On the day of the run/walk memorial boards were on view in view in the high school gymnasium where the runners congregated after the race to enjoy fruit and to hear the results of the run.
“We had a wonderful crowd turn out for a great cause,” Riverhead High School Assistant Principal Patrick Burke said last year. “It was a beautiful day and I received really good feedback from everyone I spoke with. We wanted to give the community an opportunity come together as a community to remember people they have lost in their lives. We’re looking forward to making this an annual event in an effort to raise funds to add more scholarships for our students.”
Last year, 282 runners registered for the race, and the event raised over $5,000, used to fund scholarships for graduating seniors.
