Riverhead Students View Inauguration, 'Peaceful Passage of Power'
Students were taught that the "peaceful passage of power" was critical in the United States, district officials said.

RIVERHEAD, NY — Donald Trump's inauguration was streamed live at Riverhead High School, where students watched history unfold and were taught to celebrate the "peaceful passage of power," the district said.
Students watched on LED screens in the hallways, in classes, in the NJROTC room, in the cafeteria, and in the library.
“We talked about the event earlier in class,” Naval Science Instructor CAPT Matthew Loughlin said. “I told them how a peaceful passage of power is an important attribute of our country and to watch carefully because soon they will have the opportunity to vote.”

One of the three, Kurt, said he was just shy of being able to vote.
“I thought the whole inauguration was pretty great. I wasn’t excited the whole time before this, but right in the moment I really got caught up. It was really patriotic. I felt like everyone there had a great vibe. Great feelings all around.”
