Sex Offender Arrested After He Fails To Register: Police

He was charged with a felony, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A sex offender was arrested after he failed to register in Riverhead, police said.

According to Riverhead Town police, on Tuesday at 8:29 p.m., the detective squad arrested Rahmel Walker, 31, after he failed to register and verify as required under the terms of his status as a Level 3 sex offender.

Walker was charged with New York State Corrections Law 168-T under the Sex Offender Registration Act, a felony, processed at the Riverhead Police Department, and held for arraignment at the Riverhead Town justice court on Wednesday, police said.
