In the spirit of the holiday season, the Peconic River Sportsman’s Club donated a total of $68,100 this year to local breast-cancer charities. On December 17, representatives from the Babylon Breast Coalition, Lucia’s Angels and the North Fork Breast Health Coalition cheerfully accepted checks of $22,700 for each of the three organizations.

For the last 11 years, PRSC has held “Take a Shot at Cancer,” contributing a total of more than $400,000 to charity. The fundraiser is held in September and features clay shooting for club members and the public. The proceeds of the annual event are traditionally distributed to cancer charities during a holiday party in December at the historic PRSC clubhouse.

“We are so gratified by the generosity of our members, neighbors and friends, especially this year, which topped last year’s unprecedented success. These organizations are doing vital work that benefits local Long Islanders, and we are pleased that we can continue to support them,” said Mike McEnroy, club president.

Peconic River Sportsman’s Club is located on 400 acres in Manorville and open to the public on a limited basis. For more information on the club or upcoming events, contact Natalie Lugo at nlugo0502@gmail.com.
