Two Thieves 'Forcibly' Rob Sneaker Store Clerk in Riverhead: Police

The men fled the scene on foot but were later caught, police said.

RIVERHEAD, NY — Two thieves forcibly robbed a sneaker store clerk in Riverhead recently, police said.

Rahiem Washington, 30, and Rashawn George, 35, both of Riverhead, were arrested on Nov. 6 and charged with second degree robbery, a felony, after a call came in about the crime, which took place 5:15 p.m. at Sneaker Aquarium on East Main Street, Riverhead Police said.

Patrol officers and a COPE unit at the scene were involved in a foot pursuit as the two men ran from the scene, authorities said.

The pair was later positively identified and the Riverhead Police Department's detective division determined that the men had "forcibly robbed" a clerk of an undetermined amount of cash and sneakers. They were placed under arrest, processed, and held for arraignment, police said.
