Unlicensed Southampton Man Caught With Crack in Flanders: Police

The man was busted after being stopped for traffic violations, police said.

A Southampton man was caught with crack cocaine in Flanders Friday, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, Matthew Pittman, 40, was arrested by the C.O.P.E. unit and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third and fourth degrees, felonies.

Pittman was stopped on Riverside Drive in Flanders at 6:30 p.m. for vehicle and traffic violations and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, police said.

After further investigation, he was found to be in possession of crack cocaine, police said.

Pittman was transported to Riverhead Police headquarters, where he was processed and confined pending arraignment, police said.
