Wading River Attorney Arrested After Stealing Funds Meant To Buy Hamptons Home For Client: DA

"This office will not allow licensed professionals to abuse their positions for personal gain." — Suffolk County DA Ray Tierney.

WADING RIVER, NY — A Wading River attorney was arrested after he reportedly stole funds meant to purchase a client's home, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said.

Peter Giattino, 43, has been accused of stealing $751,687 designated to be used in connection with the purchase of a Southampton home, the DA said. Giattino was arrested and arraigned on the charge of second-degree grand larceny, Tierney said.

According to the investigation, on June 2, 2025, Giattino, the principal attorney at PVG Legal Solutions PLLC, was hired to represent the client in a purchase of the Hamptons home.

On June 13, 2025, the client had the funds to purchase the home wired to Giattino, the DA said. Upon receiving the money, Giattino reportedly began withdrawing the victim’s money via official bank checks, ATM transactions, and cash withdrawals, Tierney said.

Between June and October 2025, he has been accused of stealing $751,687 from the client, the DA said. It has been further alleged that Giattino spent a portion of the client's money at local and out-of-state casinos, Tierney said.

After Giattino reportedly caused the real estate closing to be unnecessarily canceled, the client hired new counsel to represent him in the real estate transaction and repeatedly requested that his money be transferred to his new attorney, the DA said.

Giattino failed to return the money because he had already spent it on unauthorized personal expenses, Tierney said.

On January 15, Giattino was arraigned before Riverhead Town Justice Lori M. Hulse on the charge of second-degree grand larceny, a Class C felony, the DA said.

He was released on his own recognizance because under current New York State law, the crime is not deemed bail eligible, Tierney said.

Giattino is due back in court on April 8 and he is being represented by Bob Macedonio, who did not immediately return a request for comment.

"The allegations against this defendant reflect a serious betrayal of the confidence the victim placed in this attorney in his role as both legal counsel and fiduciary," said Tierney. "The integrity of the attorney-client relationship is fundamental to our society, and this office will not allow licensed professionals to abuse their positions for personal gain."
