Wading River Residence Engulfed In Flames: Police
The fire broke out Wednesday morning, police say.
WADING RIVER, NY — A single-family home in Wading River went up in flames early Wednesday, police said.
According to Riverhead Town police, a 911 call came in about 7:12 a.m. from a resident on Gladys Road, saying that she saw smoke coming from a nearby residence that was currently undergoing a remodel. The home was unoccupied, police said.
Patrol officers were dispatched and upon arrival, they heavy smoke emanating from the roof and soffits of the home, police said.

A short time later, the residence became fully engulfed in flames, police said.
In addition to Wading River Fire Department, crews from the Riverhead Volunteer Fire Department, Ridge Fire Department, Rocky Point Fire Department and Brookhaven National Laboratory Fire Department responded to assist in extinguishing the fire, police said.

The Riverhead fire marshal's office was requested to the scene, as were Riverhead detectives and detectives with the Suffolk County Police Department's arson section, police said.
A preliminary investigation suggested that the fire appeared accidental; however, the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Riverhead police at 631-727-4500.
