Woman Charged In New Year's Eve Stabbing On LI: PD

She stabbed another woman in the chest, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A woman has been arrested and charged after a Riverhead stabbing on New Year's Eve, police said.

According to Riverhead Town police, on Sunday, the woman was stabbed at the River Pointe apartment complex on East Main Street. A 44-year-old resident of the complex was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of a stab wound to her chest, which was non-life threatening, police said.

Jayveona Nash-Jones, 18, was arrested during the early evening hours of New Year's Day at her residence in connection with the incident, police said. Nash-Jones was transported to the Riverhead Police Department, where she was charged with second-degree assault, a felony; she was held overnight for arraignment, police said.
