Woman Charged With Stealing Vehicle, Breaking Into Garage: Police
She stole items from a vehicle in a Wading River garage and was confronted by the homeowner, police say.
WADING RIVER, NY — A Coram woman was arrested and charged after she burglarized a Wading River garage and fled in a stolen car, police said.
Taylor Mahoney, 26, was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary as well as fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, police said.
According to Riverhead police, the incident took place on Saturday at 4:05 a.m. on Great Rock Drive; a 911 caller reported someone in the backyard. Mahoney pulled into the driveway in a gray, four-door Hyundai sedan and broke into a detached garage, stealing merchandise from a vehicle inside before being confronted by the homeowner, police said.

She then fled the area in the car, which had been stolen from Coram, police said.
A New York State Police K-9 unit was requested to assist; a search of the area was unsuccessful, police said.

Mahoney was later arrested and transported to Riverhead Police Department for processing; she is currently in custody awaiting arraignment, police said.
