Woman Steals Purse From Vehicle At Costco: Cops

The search is still on for two others involved, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A woman was arrested and charged after she allegedly stole a pocketbook from a vehicle at Costco Wholesale in Riverhead, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, the incident took place on Jan. 9 at Costco Wholesale on Old Country Rd. in Riverhead; a woman said while she was returning her shopping cart to the cart stall, a female removed her pocketbook from her vehicle and fled the area in a green Honda sedan.

The vehicle was said to be occupied by two others; the vehicle was gone prior to police arrival and a check of the area, police said.

The Riverhead Police Department's detective division was notified and, during the course of the investigation, the victim's credit card was found to have been used at several locations throughout Suffolk County, police said.

Allyson A. Cunningham, 26, was eventually identified, arrested on Thursday, and charged with fourth degree grand larceny, police said.

The identity of the other two individuals remains unknown; Cunningham was transported to Riverhead Police Department and processed, police said.

The police report did not indicate where Cunningham was from.
