Your Guide to the Riverhead Country Fair

Everything you need to know and more for your trip to the 36th annual fair in downtown Riverhead this Sunday

This Sunday, the will once again come to Riverhead. If you're thinking of heading downtown this weekend to see the event, here's everything you need to know about it:

The fair opens at 10 a.m. along Main Street and runs until 5 p.m. Attendance is free for all ages. The National Weather Service has forecast a beautiful day, with sun and highs in the upper 70s.

The Country Fair is a day long celebration with over 450 vendors selling everything from homemade food and wares to birdhouses, jewelry and more. There will be live music and entertainment, such as tractor-pulls and pony rides, and will also feature locally grown food, carnival rides and a vegetable-decorating contest.

Those who want to enter the contest can bring their entries to East End Arts on Main Street from 7 to 9 a.m. The contest is open to ages 4 through adult. More information about the annual contest can be found on the fair's website.

The Fair in its current form is a revival of the original town fair, a market for local farmers to buy and sell their wares that was discontinued during the Great Depression. It was brought back in 1976 as part of the town's bicentennial celebration.

Last year At the time, Jim Lull, its co-organizer, said the 35th annual fair was "one of the most positive fairs we've ever done,"

The 36th annual fair looks to be no different. We hope to see you there!
