2nd Good Samaritan ID'd Who Helped Bridge-Jumping Boy

The second person was identified as a woman in a military uniform.

HASTING-ON-HUDSON, NY — There were two people who helped a young boy who jumped off an overpass Aug. 3 on the Saw Mill River Parkway in Yonkers. One of them was Hastings-on-Hudson Police Officer Jessie Ferreira Cavallo, who parked her car, grabbed medical items and followed the child off the overpass.

Until now, the other person, described as a woman wearing a military uniform, had not been identified.

Nicole McKenzie is the woman’s name, the Journal News said, and she was on her way home from Yonkers, where she is a specialist in the New York Army National Guard.

McKenzie said she saw a commotion going on and pulled over and sprang into action.

Cavallo and McKenzie worked together to get the boy onto his back and started to attend to his injuries.
