4 Rivertowns School Districts Close In Frigid Temperatures

At 6 a.m. it was 1 degree F in the Rivertowns. Weather conditions and concerns for student safety prompted all four school districts to close Thursday. Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry, Hastings and Irvington school officials cited the bitter cold weather and concern for the students and staff trying to get to school as the reason.

The National Weather Service has posted:

• Hazardous Weather Outlook
• Wind Chill Advisory until January 31, 10:00 AM EST
• Special Weather Statement

Ardsley district officials said, however, that at present, the Middle School musical, Annie Jr., is still scheduled for 7 p.m.

Irvington school officials posted this on the district website:

Due to the extremely cold weather and our concerns for student and staff safety traveling to school, the Irvington Schools will be closed today, Thursday, January 31st.
