Con Ed Reports Thousands of Outages in the Rivertowns

Hastings, Dobbs Ferry and Irvington are among the worst hit.

By 7 a.m. Sunday, Consolidated Edison was reporting thousands of power outages from Northern Westchester down through New York City and Long Island. 

In Hastings, Dobbs Ferry and Irvington alone, residents have already called in thousands of outages.

Con Ed's map shows 500 to 1,000 residences without power in Irvington and upwards of 5,000 in Dobbs Ferry and Hastings.

The power company reminds customers not to touch downed wires or go near them. Never assume the wires are dead.

Four hundred crews from around the country, some from as far away as Colorado and Texas, have either arrived or are arriving to assist Con Edison employees who are addressing customer problems and outages, representatives from the company said.
