Plea Deal In Deadly Shooting Of Westchester Man On Street In August
The Yonkers man, who has admitted to the slaying of the Mount Vernon man, will be sentenced to 25 years in prison.
YONKERS, NY — A plea deal has been reached in a shocking case of gun violence.
Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace announced on Tuesday that 29-year-old Xavier Palmer, of Yonkers, pleaded guilty to felony first-degree manslaughter on June 18.
His guilty plea was accepted by the court upon the condition that he will be sentenced to 25 years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision.

Palmer is scheduled to be sentenced on July 30.
On Aug. 11, 2025, 41-year-old James Hardy, of Mount Vernon, was shot and killed on Cliff Street in Yonkers.

A Yonkers Police Department investigation led to the arrest of Palmer soon after the shooting. A loaded Glock .9mm handgun was recovered by police at the scene of the shooting.
"Nothing is more tragic than the senseless killing of another human being," Cacace said. "My hopes are that the swift apprehension of this suspect and his expeditious prosecution will bring some sense of closure and peace to the victim’s family."
The investigation was conducted by the Yonkers Police Department, while the case was prosecuted by Assistant DAs Marissa Wynn and Kevin Jones.
