Construction Begins on Healthful Eatery, Yoga Studio on Hastings' Key Corner

The "Hastings House" will renew its former glory as a wellness center and healthful restaurant.

Local architect Christina Griffin's face lights up when she looks out her office's expansive window at the building whose transformation began just this week.

What was once the "Hastings House"—a tavern that represented the village's quaint small-town charm—555 Warburton has grown drab and unimpressive over the years.

Soon, though, the corner building will thrive again as a yoga studio and healthfood restaurant.

"The owner is Rosemary Delvin, and her business is called 02 Living," said Griffin. "The first floor will have a restaurant and juice bar and the second and third floors will house the yoga studio and other wellness practices like massage."

While Delvin, Griffin said, is passionate about what will eventually go in the building, Griffin is taken by 555 Warburton's design and potential.

"Upstairs there are 14-foot ceilings because it used to have a ballroom," Griffin said. "It's really important to the character of the town; it really embodies all its character. I am so excited finally to be restoring it."

If all goes according to plan, the restaurant and studio will open in about a year. It took two years for Griffin and her team to get all the necessary building approvals from the village.
