Conversations About Race: A Series in 4 Communities

Churches in Ossining, Briarcliff Manor, Tarrytown and Irvington invite neighbors and friends to explore a tough subject carefully, together.

Join fellow Episcopalians and neighbors in Westchester County for a series of five Lenten conversations about race.

The organizers say:

The last year has been a tough one for Americans of every background. Communities across the nation have been struggling to make sense of racial tensions some had hoped were things of the past. What’s our role as Christians in a world where people seem to be divided by lines of misunderstanding and mistrust rather than united by love as God intends?

If you’re interested in exploring this question on a deeper level, please join us this Lent as we gather in a safe and holy space to share our stories and discover what we can do together to help move our world in a better direction.

The journey begins on February 25 at Trinity Church in Ossining.

How do racial and ethnic differences shape our perceptions of the world and of one another--regardless of how enlightened or informed we may be? This program, the first in our series of Lenten Conversations About Race, will help you understand more about yourself and about how we relate to one another as citizens and as Christians. To be facilitated by Dennis Parker of Trinity Church, Ossining, and Director, ACLU Racial Justice Program, and Rev Joanne Izzo, Assistant Rector, Christ Church / San Marcos, Tarrytown.

7:00pm - 9:00pm
