Dobbs Ferry Walgreens, it Seems, a Fait Accompli
Applicants representing a Walgreens pharmacy in Dobbs Ferry have received all the board approvals to go ahead with their project.
Joe Sanzo, owner of in Dobbs Ferry, doesn't know how long he'll be located between the now-closed Brothers Market and Off Broadway restaurant in the village—but he does know it won't be for long.
Developers representing a Walgreens pharmacy were granted all the necessary approvals from village boards last month to go ahead with their project, said Village Administrator Marcus Serrano.
The next step is for the applicants to apply for building and demolition permits—which will get the ball rolling on the new chain pharmacy in town.

The entire complex in the village's gateway intersection will be demolished down to the foundation, said attorney Alfred DelBello, who represents the developer's attorney.
A new building will be constructed which building inspector Brian Cook said adheres to the village's new Vision Plan. "The Architectural and Historical Review Board required that they add a second story to adhere to the plan."

The second floor will mostly provide office space, Serrano said.

Sanzo said he did not know when he'd receive his 90 day's notice to vacate the building.
"I'm upset; I haven't heard anything from the owner yet," Sanzo said.
But Herb Jackenthal, Sanzo's landlord, said the time line is up to the applicants and the village.
"It's out of my hands; but I do hope to be able to provide some compensation to the current tenants."
Sanzo hopes it will be enough to relocate somewhere nearby—so l students won't starve during lunch time.
