Angelica in Italia: A Musical Journey, 1300-1900

Angelica, a women’s chamber choir directed by Marie Caruso, presents music by 13th- through 19th-century Italian composers. Featured works will include Niccola Porpora’s Magnificat, Giuseppe Verdi’s “Laudi alla Vergine Maria,” selections from Giovanni Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, and Italian madrigals. Joining Angelica will be guest artists Christopher Johnson, organ; Margaret Ziemnicka and Andrea Andros, violins; and Matthew Stauffer, cello.

Please join Angelica, a group hailed for its “perfect blend” and “beautiful, transcendent sound,” at this upcoming concert.

NOTE: This concert will also be presented in New York City on Sunday, May 15th, at 3:00 pm at The Church of St. Vincent Ferrer, 869 Lexington Ave. at E. 66th St., NYC.

About Angelica

Angelica, founded in 1996, has developed a rich repertory of music ranging from early anonymous music to contemporary compositions. The group also performs unique genres of music including Sephardic, American folk, and jazz, and sometimes incorporates instrumental accompaniment. Angelica performs concerts throughout the year in both Manhattan and Westchester.  Eugene Sirotkine, Metropolitan Opera’s Assistant Chorus Master and Assistant Conductor, describes Angelica as having a “gorgeous sound, rich sonorities, and transparent harmonies.”
