1 – 3 Family Art Workshops!

Marble Rolling: make beautiful rainbow-colored paper

Mixed Media Painting: create a painting that sparkles without using paint or paper!

2 – 3 Storyteller April Armstrong

Using the tapestry of color and collage of our new exhibit as inspiration, April tells tales of family (inherited and adopted).  Come and feel the warmth through stories and songs of love, humor, community and one tricky spider named Anansi.  Perfect for the whole family.

3 – 4  Kobla Dente: Talking Drums

In "Talking Drums", expert drummer Kobla Mensa Dente leads participants on an exciting and enlightening journey of musical exploration. In this presentation, Kobla introduces families to a wide variety of West African percussion instruments and drums. Discover African chants, music and instruments in a hands-on experience. Count, spell and jump, all to the beat of the African drum. This program combines a high level of audience participation with a great amount of information connecting the past with the present. Kobla illustrates the complex way in which music is woven into and flows through out African life. Join Kobla as he leads audiences in a magical adventure through the instruments of Africa.
