Vocalist Joan Crowe will perform in the second in a series of concerts to showcase jazz and the American Songbook.
Joan Crowe is a versatile singer with an extensive repertoire and a unique comic ability. She opened for Joe Lovano in 2002 and has played with Jesters of Jive, singing music of jazz masters of wit like Fats Waller, Cab Calloway, Louis Jordan and others. She has performed in the Jazz Standard, the Iridium Jazz Club, Sweet Rhythm and Birdland. She has produced several CDs, Bird On The Wire and In the Key of of Comedy . She has toured in Berlin, Prague, and Amsterdam and Hong Kong. In 2002 she won the MAC Award for Female Musical Comedy which led her to produce a video pod cast. Funny Jazz Chick, devoted to the lighter side of jazz, filmed at Birdland.
