The Irvington Public Library will present a musical performance, "Now We Can Sing," on Thursday, April 26 at 7 p.m. "Now We Can Sing" is a moving and inspiring program centering on the music that was banned to Jewish musicians by the Nazis in 1930's Germany. The program will follow two musicians through that dreadful era until they ultimately migrate to a new land and establish new lives. Flutist Barbara Siesel and singer, songwriter and storyteller Keith Torgan create the times through the music of Johann Bach, Robert Schumann, Paul Hindemith, Aaron Copland and George Gershwin as well as through the cabaret songes of Frederick Hollaender. In this universal work, mastery, passion and self-expression transcend the isolation of hatred, racism and intolerance.
