This performance is part of our new Chamber Sundays series, hosted by renowned National Public Radio personality Bill McGlaughlin. An accomplished musician, conductor and composer, McGalughlin will frame the performance, offering context and insight and guiding the Q&A. Each performance will be followed by a reception with the artists.
In the 23 years since its founding, the Orion String Quartet has become one of the most sought-after ensembles for whom composers ranging from Chick Corea, John Harbison and Leon Kirchner to Wynton Marsalis, have been commissioned. They also have partnered with such musical luminaries as Pablo Casals, Rudolf Serkin, Yo-Yo Ma and Andras Schiff. In addition to their busy concert schedule, the ensemble also is quartet-in-residence at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and the Mannes College of Music.
