In November 2008, 25-year-old indie filmmaker and Hastings High alum Sara Wolkowitz ('01) climbed onto a bus with the twelve actors selected for The Acting Company's 37th season. The Company's mission was to promote theater and literacy by bringing classical productions, talented young actors and teaching artists into communities where live performance and theater arts education is limited or non-existent. The actors traveled to over 40 cities to perform for audiences of 70,000 and reach more than 25,000 students.
