Westchester Symphonic Winds Winter Concert, "A Celtic Celebration"

The Westchester Symphonic Winds kicks off the second half of their 23rd season with “A Celtic Celebration”, on Sunday, March 13th at 3:00pm. Featured on this program are Tam O’Shanter Overture, by Malcolm Arnold and arranged by John P. Paynter. This tone poem tells the folk tale of a farmer who, while travelling home on a stormy night, disturbs a witch’s party in a haunted church. The second and third featured pieces are Morning Song and Rizzendo, by Travis Cross. Cross is the Assistant Professor of Music at Virginia Tech University, and he joins the WSW to guest conduct two of his own compositions.

Also slated for performance are Second Suite in F by Gustav Holst; Quiet City by Aaron Copland, with soloists Emily Harrison,English horn, and Stephen Austin, trumpet; a set of five traditional Irish songs, including Shepherd’s Hey and Danny Boy, and more!

The Tarrytown-Sleepy Hollow St. Patrick’s Day Parade begins at 1:30pm. Come for the parade and then join us for an afternoon of great music!

Tickets to this concert can be purchased in advance at tickets.tarrytownmusichall.org or at the door. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors and students. Children under 10 are admitted free.
