Good-Life Gourmet Grand Opening Postponed Slightly
Irvington take-out food eatery, offering gourmet sandwiches, heat-and-eat dinners and lots of fun after-school snacks for kids, is slated to open in late August.
Chef/owner Eric C. Korn said Saturday that Good-Life Gourmet will open in Irvington by the end of August and in Scarsdale on August 18, both specializing in ever-changing take-out food and catering. Table seating will be available only at the Scarsdale location. Originally the openings had been tentatively planned for August 16.
The short delays will not affect the availability of chilled summer corn soup, Korn assured, nor will it have any bearing on his marriage to fiancee Meredith, a New York City accountant, scheduled for September 25 at a beach on Cape Cod. No word yet if the soup will be spelled corn soup or "Korn soup."
The shops will focus on three types of service: gourmet lunchtime sandwiches, a "heat-and-eat, dinner-to-go" program featuring a different meal every day, and off-premises customized catering.

Their menu will include a variety of after-school fun food snacks for kids, Korn said, including Flutternutters, made with home-made peanut butter and marshmallows.
Korn will manage the Irvington store, while his younger brother Will will be in charge of the Scarsdale eatery.
