High-Style Wine and Cocktail Bar to Debut at Orissa on Friday the Thirteenth

Dobbs Ferry's Indian restaurant is offering wine by the glass from countries around the globe, along with creative cocktails, a bevy of popular drinks and of course Indian beer.

Dobbs Ferry will soon have an exciting, distinctive and arty new gathering spot for wine by the glass, beer, cocktails and light food. Orissa's new modernistic bar will begin pouring wine and mixing drinks on Friday, May 13 at 5:30 p.m.

Most of the red and white wines to be offered by the glass are priced from $8 to $10 and come from vineyards located throughout the world. Happy Hour special offers will apply at the wine and cocktail bar on Thursday through Sunday following the grand opening on May 13. Wine tasting parties are in the planning stage.

The bar was designed by Niall Cain, owner of NcC Studio Architecture in Dobbs Ferry, who also designed the restaurant's colorful contemporary interior. The restaurant was opened in February, 2010 by Cain and his wife physician/scientist Cynthia Caracta who helped choose the bar's colors and materials.

The bar area combines cool green with warm red and yellow contrasting colors and a cutout ceiling similar to the one in the dining room. The resin bar front was made from broken glass having the color of old wine bottles. The bar's six stools are augmented by tables in the bar and in spillover areas just outside the bar. The bar area is attached to the dining room by a small lounge.

Here are some examples of wine to be served at the bar:
