Irvington Fire Chief Honored for Heroism
He intervened when he saw man stabbing a woman at the train station.
Irvington, NY — The Irvington fire chief who intervened in a knife attack at the train station in 2015 received an award for being a hero.
Christopher T. DePaoli and 22 others received the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission medal for heroism, the Journal News said.

DePaoli was at the station April 8, 2015, when Sidney Brown of Mount Vernon tried to murder his ex-girlfriend by stabbing her repeatedly.

Brown pled guilty in February 2016 to second-degree attempted murder and second-degree strangulation. He was sentenced to 19 years in state prison.
The Journal News said DePaoli, armed with a baseball bat, managed to get between Brown and his victim.
