Mount Vernon Man Pleads Guilty to Trying to Kill His Ex in Irvington

The stabbing was witnessed by the Irvington Fire Chief.

A Mount Vernon man pleaded guilty Thursday to trying to murder his ex-girlfriend in Irvington.

Acting Westchester County District Attorney James A. McCarty said that Sidney Brown, 52, was sentenced to 19 years in state prison.

Brown pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted murder and second-degree strangulation.

On April 8, 2015, Brown accosted Deborah Henry around 6:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Irvington Metro-North Railroad station.

He repeatedly stabbed her in the neck, torso, back and thigh.

The stabbing was witnessed by a number of bystanders as well as the Irvington Fire Chief who intervened.

Brown and Henry have three children in common and had been domestic partners.

Both were admitted to local hospitals.

Brown was discharged from Westchester Medical Center April 10 and was arraigned in Irvington Village Court.
