Starting from Zero: Art, Harmony and Innovation
Join a fascinating conversation among scholars, conservator and curator about the technological and conceptual innovations of Group Zero, an international movement of artists who aimed to re-harmonize the relationship between man and nature in the wake of World War II. Learn about how these artists used materials and technology taken from science and industry to explore light, kinetics, and structure in a minimalist practice.
A variety of speakers will participate, including Elizabeth Berkowitz, Adjunct Professor of Art History, Purchase College; Hakan Topal, Assistant Professor of New Media and Art+Design, Purchase College; and Reinhard Bek, partner of Bek & Fronhert, LLC. The program is moderated by exhibition curator Avis Larson, Assistant Curator, Neuberger Museum of Art. Free with museum admission.
