Police: Ex-Dobbs Ferry Resident, Army Officer Fired Handgun

Police charge a 24-year-old US Army Officer for allegedly firing a shot Thursday morning outside Celtic Corner pub.

Dobbs Ferry Police arrested 24-year-old Alexander Kelly Thursday after he allegedly shot a semiautomatic handgun during an argument with another patron at the Celtic Corner pub, police said.

Kelly, of Washington State, faces charges for: gun possession, reckless endangerment and menacing. The first two are felony charges.

Police said Kelly was in town visiting family when he became embroiled in a dispute with someone else drinking at the bar around 3 a.m. It was during the altercation that police believe the suspect fired the weapon.

No one was injured as a result of the shot, and police located the suspect and arrested him at 9:20 a.m. today. He will be arraigned this afternoon in Village Court. 

Kelly is a former resident who is now an officer with the U.S. Army, Police said.

According to witnesses, the suspect was intoxicated at the time of the incident.
