It will be simple (and tempting) just to grab flowers for your loved one at Grand Central on the way to the train or at the supermarket as you shop for groceries next Tuesday.
But don't forget about your local florists, for whom Valentine's Day is one of the most important holidays, business-wise, of the year.
Carole Bennett has had her shop——on lower Main Street in Dobbs Ferry for 32 years. She offers a vast array of Valentine's Day arrangements, from $85 for a dozen roses to single (two-spike) orchids and candy boxes.

You can also pick out your own arrangements of flowers in vases or baskets for as little as $40.
Though roses are generally the flowers most closely associated with Feb. 14, Bennett said she prefers the orchids.

"We have beautiful ones this year," she said. "They come in white, lavender and pink and I wrap the containers in pussy willow. They come out gorgeous."
Flowers by Carole will deliver within the Rivertowns for $7-10, depending on the distance.
So, really, shopping locally isn't less convenient than picking up flowers at the station, is it?
