Astrology Class Teaches Locals when to Sow, Reap and Rest

Pamela Cucinell, a local astrologer, will teach a course in Irvington this fall. Rivertowns residents can learn to use astrology as a tool in relationships and self-discovery.

Sign up for one evening class in Irvington this fall, and you just might "gain insight to understand your life, the people in it and how to make better choices," said Pamela Cucinell, a local astrologer.  Cucinell will be teaching a four-week astrology course in Irvington through Inter-Village Continuing Education (IVCE).

The practice of astrology has been constant throughout human history all across the globe.  Even if you don't believe in astrology, chances are  you have ancestors who did.

"Through patient observation and exacting math, ancient societies developed sophisticated ways of clocking the heavens," Cucinell said.  "The Mayans were among many civilizations to use astronomical knowledge in a symbolic way to forecast events."

According to Cucinell, because Ancient Babylon and India shared their astronomy with traveling Greeks, the information was incorporated into the Greeks' system. And then it was the Greeks who developed the foundation for the astrology we recognize today.

Many who remain skeptical of astrology still read horoscopes for entertainment--  countless leaders and celebrities regularly consult astrologers.  What explains the continued popularity of astrology?

"Astrology is useful for planning any event, whether the inception of a business, calling a hot prospect or setting the date for your wedding," Cucinell said.  "Astrologers used to be the exclusive advisors of royalty, but in today's world, anyone can benefit from the insight provided by a competent astrologer."

Cucinell believes the ancient practice can be helpful to people struggling with such issues as understanding how their children learn or learning to relate more effectively to hard-to-read  friends, bosses, husbands or wives.

"Through horoscope interpretation, you can discover your life's purpose and greater self-acceptance," Cucinell said.

Cucinell has twenty years of experience in astrological consultation.  Before she practiced professionally, she spent four years earning her certification through the National Council of Geocosmic Research (NCGR).

"Every horoscope I look at, whether for an event, an individual or a country, deepens my education," she said. And besides enhancing her professional credibility, Cucinell said her training has been an invaluable personal asset.

"Astrology has helped me to heal old family wounds by broadening my perspective of the people closest to me," she said. "It has made my life less stressful because I know when to 'sow, reap and rest'.  Astrology has introduced me to a fascinating quilt of people all around the world."

But Cucinell said the greatest purpose her training has served has been the most tangible. "The greatest gift has been the ability to accurately time the conception of my late-in-life child," she said.

Though her clients come from every walk of life, Cucinell has extensive experience advising independent business owners and women.  When describing her client base, she said, "I attract a large number of self-employed clients, probably because I have a background in freelance design and production work as well as having owned a storefront business," she said.

The women she works with are often "in the process of re-inventing themselves and who want objective counsel on where their potential for success lies and how to get there."

Through teaching the IVCE course this fall, Cucinell hopes to share some of the life-changing knowledge she has gained through her practice of astrology.

About the class she said: "This class is for you if you're interested in knowing more about yourself and other people in your life so you can live with greater awareness."

The course will run on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. from October 19 through November 9 at Irvington High School.  The fee is $88 for residents, $79 for senior residents and $97 for non-residents.  Registration can be completed online at www.intervillage.org, or by mailing a completed IVCE registration form and check to IVCE, 500 Farm Road, Ardsley, NY  10502.  For telephone inquiries, call 914-693-6300, ext. 2224.

Pamela Cucinell offers astrology reports, private consultations and Life Path Astrology services through her website, www.astrologyoasis.com.  She can be reached by phone at 917-796-6026.
