Standoff in Hastings Leads to Kidnapping Arrest
Velez barricaded himself and his wife in a bathroom in their home and threatened to harm her and himself.
Hastings resident Antonio Velez, 37, of Marion Avenue was arrested on kidnapping charges early Monday following a standoff with police that lasted more than three hours.
Velez barricaded himself and his wife in a bathroom in their home and threatened to harm her and himself, reports The Journal News.
After hours of negotiations between Velez and authorities from multiple area departments, Velez released his wife and eventually surrendered. His wife was treated in a hospital for an injury to her left eye.
