Stepinac High School Names Alumnus Keith Sunderland (Class of ’94) as Admissions Director

White Plains-based Archbishop Stepinac High School has named alumnus Keith Sunderland (Class of ’94), distinguished member of the administration and faculty, as Director of Admissions.

The appointment continues Sunderland’s notable 18-year career at the all-boys Catholic high school where he served as Dean of Students, as a member of the administration and faculty and as producer and co-moderator of the acclaimed Drama Club.

Sunderland joined Stepinac in 1999 as the Drama Club’s assistant producer and, in 2002, he became a full-time member of the faculty, teaching government and economics, religious studies as well as a drama and theatre course. In 2005, he was named Dean of Students, a role he served for the past 12 years. His responsibilities included providing professional development to teachers regarding discipline and classroom management.

In 2008, in addition to his duties as producer, he assumed the role of co-moderator of the Drama Club, working with and guiding the group’s student leadership.

During his tenure as producer, his productions of the Broadway hits, The Phantom of the Opera and The Hunchback of Notre Dame, respectively won the 2012 and 2017 Metropolitan High School Theatre Awards (Metros), for Best Overall Production of a Musical. In addition, he produced the national high school premiere and regional premiere of Elton John’s Tony winner, Billy Elliot in 2015.

In 2009, he helped Stepinac’s theater group earn international acclaim by producing the European premiere of Curtains that was performed at the American High School Theater Festival at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

As Admissions Director, Sunderland will oversee the recruitment, evaluation and admissions process for incoming students. In addition to those responsibilities, he will continue as an Advanced Placement Government and Politics instructor and as Drama Club producer and co- moderator.

Sunderland earned a B.A. Degree in Political Science from Marist College and Master’s Degree in School Building Leadership from Touro College.
