Zumbathon Fundraiser in Montrose

Why Go: Burn calories, have fun and make a difference by taking part in this extended Zumba® class to raise money for a student trip to Nicaragua to help build houses and communities. The class will be run my Suzi Myers Tipa who regularly teaches Zumba classes in the community.

V-Day Plant, Book, Bake, and Jewelry sale at Dobbs Ferry Library

Why Go: Delicious Baked Goods will be available along with house plants, blooming plants, vintage jewelry, and specially decorated cookies by Sheryl. Of course, books will also be available for purchase!
No Bones About It

Why Go: Learn about invertebrates including octopi, worms & insects. Eat some “inverts” and make an insect project.

American Girl Doll Activities
When/Where: Saturday, Feb. 11, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the
Why Go: Valerie Tripp, the writer of the American Girl Collection will speak about the joy of her work at 1:30 p.m. and later will sign books and be available for photos. Also, meet the quilters of the American Girl Quilt display. At 1 p.m., the Stepping Up Dance Company will be performing a medley of dances inspired by the characters and times of the American Girl collection.
Price: $5 per child/$10 per family. Boys and girls of all ages are invited and are encouraged to bring their favorite doll, action figure or stuffed animal.
"I Love Books" Valentine’s Day Book Fair at Beczac
When/Where: Saturday, Feb.11, from 1-3 p.m. at the Beczak Environmental Education Center in Yonkers
Why Go: Meet local authors, enjoy fun programs at this book fair for all ages. Free demonstrations and readings all afternoon, including the team behind the PBS series “Sid the Science Kid” who will help you make your own worm bin. Caldecott winner and Croton resident Jerry Pinkney will do interactive drawing and readings. Hudson Talbott, author of “River of Dreams,” shares how he gets ideas for children’s books, writes and illustrates them.
Valentine's Day Carnival
When/Where: Sunday, February 12, from 2-5 p.m. at the
Why Go: It is a family day of fun, featuring a performance by The Bossy Frog Band, Valentine’s Day crafts, games, face painting and a bake sale. Proceeds will benefit the YWCA annual Fund, which provides critical support for programs, building needs and scholarships.
Price: $10, free for kids under 2—event is geared towards children age 3-8.
Children's Carnival for Charity
When/Where: Saturday, Feb 11, 12 noon-4 p.m. at in Katonah
Why Go: The Harvey School will host the 2nd Annual Children's Carnival for Charity, sponsored by the Community Service Club and offered for local families with grade-school-aged children. There will be bouncy stations, traditional carnival games, a juggler, stories and crafts for preschoolers, a "salon" for the girls, raffle prizes, baked goods and lunch for sale. There will be dance workshops in the Lasdon Black Box Theater. All proceeds go to Habitat for Humanity and The Reading Village.

Why Go: Children ages 2 – 4 can make unique valentines from natural objects, like seed and corn necklaces, pop-up cards, and leaf prints.

Valentine’s Day Cupcake Decorating Class in Pleasantville
When/Where: Saturday, Feb.11 from 4:15-6:15 p.m. at
Why Go: Learn how to decorate fun and flirty cupcakes for Valentine’s Day. The owner of the bakery will teach the basic techniques of decorating cupcakes using pastry bags, tips, fondant, sugar flowers, edible glitter and other decorating tools. Every student gets to bring home six cupcakes ready to give to family and friends. All materials will be provided, just come for some decorating fun.

Katonah Art Center Chill Out Scholarship Fundraiser
When/Where: Sunday, Feb. 12 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at
Why Go: Enjoy good food and take home a piece of art. Participants will choose a pottery bowl (theirs to keep) to fill with chili or macaroni and cheese. Proceeds to benefit the KAC scholarship fund for underprivileged children.

Valentine’s Swing Dance at Yorktown High School
When/Where: Saturday, Feb. 11 from 7-10 p.m. at
Why Go: At the Yorktown High School Gymnasium, The Yorktown High School Band is sponsoring a Valentine’s Day Swing Dance and concert. Live music will be provided by the YHS Bands and the evening will include a one-hour (from 7-8pm) beginner-level swing dance lesson provided by professional swing dancers. Light refreshments and raffle too.
Price: $8 for adults, $5 for students and senior citizens
