Westchester School District To Close Due To Coronavirus
This is one of the first school districts in the region to close because of the virus.

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, NY — A Westchester County school district will close its doors Thursday and Friday because of the new coronavirus. The Hastings-on-Hudson school district will be closing all schools for two days to sanitize the buildings.
A letter from Superintendent Valerie Henning-Pedmonte to families said it was being done out of caution because a parent of children in the district was in a location that was closed because of a person who is under quarantine for the virus, the Journal News reported.
Yeshiva University in New York City closed because one of its students was diagnosed with the virus. SAR High School will be closed until after Purim, which ends the evening of March 10. SAR Elementary School will be closed Friday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Wednesday afternoon at a news conference.

The closures are all related to a 50-year-old New Rochelle man who tested positive for the new coronavirus and is currently hospitalized. Members of his family attend the closed schools.
The man was the second confirmed case of COVID-19 in the state. There are nine others related to contact with him. Only the first case — a 34-year-old health care worker in New York City — is unrelated.
