"While You're Away: Love Songs of World War II"; music; history; Dr. Diane Cypkin

Diane Cypkin, performer and professor of Communications and Media at Pace University will present ”While You’re Away: Love Songs of World War II.” at the Irvington Public Library on Saturday, December 19 at 2 PM. The program will feature such classics as “Don’t Sit under the Apple Tree,” “I’ll Walk Alone,” “A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square,” “Yours,” “Chattanooga Choo Choo,” “The Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” “Besame Mucho,” and “I’ll Be Seeing You.” Who wrote, performed, danced and “romanced” to them? Why do they continue to resonate in our memory? Join us as Dr. Diane Cypkin, sings many of these songs and explains the story behind them.  Free.
