The main goals of this project are:
- Design traffic calming features that will reduce traffic volumes.
- Design traffic calming features that will reduce traffic speeds to average 20 mph or less.
- Increase safety at busy intersections for vulnerable road users.
- Reducing stopping and slowing where possible to reduce the effort required to bicycle along bicycle boulevards.
The bicycle boulevards were initially laid out with recommended concept-level traffic calming treatments in the 2015 Bicycle Boulevard Master Plan. This plan will be used as guidance, but will not be relied upon for recommended treatments. The plan can be accessed at this link: https://www.cityofrochester.gov/bikeblvd/.
