1. Food Truck Rodeo Continues at the Public Market (minorityreporter.net) — Rochester's Food Truck Rodeo is back at the Public Market on Wednesday, August 26, with live classic rock from Earthtones and dozens of local food trucks. The series runs 5–9 p.m. on the last Wednesday of each month through September, with limited parking, so organizers urge visitors to carpool, bike, walk, or take transit and bring their own chairs for seating.
   

2. Archimedes Center opens biotech lab for young scientists in Henrietta (rochesterfirst.com) — A new nonprofit biotech lab in Henrietta is opening its doors to Rochester-area students and startups, offering fully equipped space without the usual high costs or equity strings. The Archimedes Center's director says the goal is to let young scientists test ideas, incubate discoveries, and strengthen the region's life-science ecosystem by lowering barriers to cutting-edge lab work.
   

3. Rochester high schoolers get a head start in medicine; University of Rochester's paid summer internship program (whec.com) — Rochester teens can get paid, hands-on exposure to medicine through the University of Rochester Medical Center's six-week Next Gen of Surgery summer internship. Seventeen local high schoolers just completed the 2026 session, learning skills like CPR, Narcan use, and basic suturing while working alongside surgeons and researchers, with many offered entry-level URMC jobs that can continue through their path to medical school.
   

4. Tenants at Pinnacle Apartments say a trash backup has been making them physically sick for a week (whec.com subscription) — Residents at Rochester's Pinnacle Apartments, a building serving many elderly and disabled tenants, say a weeklong trash chute backup left hallways reeking and made some people feel physically ill. Management's contractor is slowly cleaning floors and manually moving garbage while waiting on a compactor repair, but tenants remain frustrated by odors, communication gaps, and recurring building problems.
   

5. Almost homecoming: Gage Ziehl makes third Triple-A start against Syracuse Mets (whec.com) — A Penfield-raised pitcher, Gage Ziehl, is drawing attention from Rochester-area fans as he continues his climb toward the majors, including a recent Triple-A start in Syracuse. Coaches say his work ethic and community impact show local kids that big-league dreams are possible even from upstate New York, with another chance to see him regionally when Worcester visits Buffalo in September.
