Rochester Public Libraries Expand Reference Services

Patrons in need of assistance can call 585-428-8066 and leave a message for library staff, who will return the call within 48 hours.

(Thursday, April 30, 2020) – Rochester Public Libraries are expanding reference services in order to give area residents increased access to library assistance, despite the current COVID-related closures. Patrons will now be able to get help both online and by phone on a variety of topics, including:

  • Social Security and IRS Navigation
  • Resume review
  • Online activities for children and teens
  • Reading and downloading eBooks

Patrons in need of assistance can call 585-428-8066 and leave a message for library staff, who will return the call within 48 hours. Beginning Monday, May 4, customer assistance will also be available online at http://libraryweb.org. Consumers can click on the “Chat” button to dialogue with a librarian or click on “Library Help” if communication through email is preferred. The new chat reference service will be available Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. All in-person events at local libraries remain cancelled. However, many online library events are still available for residents to enjoy.
