2016 'Best 100 Middle Schools in New York' List Released

Niche.com has released its 2016 rankings of public middle schools across the country, with 32 Long Island schools making the list of the top 100 in New York.

That's down from 48 Long Island schools that made the list in Niche's 2015 rankings.

A high ranking, according to Niche, indicates that a school “is an exceptional academic institution with a diverse set of high-achieving students and faculty, and the students are very happy with their experiences.”

The top nine ranked schools on Long Island are all in Nassau County. The top Suffolk County school on the list is Old Field Middle School in the Harborfields School District.

Here are the Long Island schools that made the 2016 top 100 list in New York and their respective rankings (click the links for more details on each school’s ranking):

• No. 17- Herricks Middle School, Roslyn Heights
• No. 19- Carrie Palmer Weber Middle School, Port Washington
• No, 28- Garden City Middle School, Garden City
• No. 29- Oldfield Middle School, Huntington
• No. 30- West Hollow Middle School, Melville
• No. 32- Willets Road School, Roslyn Heights
• No. 33- North Shore Middle School, Glenwood Landing
• No. 37- Candlewood Middle School, Dix Hills
• No. 40- Woodmere Middle School, Woodmere
• No. 46- Lynbrook South Middle School, Hewlett
• No. 53- Westhampton Middle School, Westhampton Beach
