2016 'Best 100 Middle Schools in New York' List Released

There are 32 Long Island schools on this year's list. That's down from 48 schools last year.

Niche.com has released its 2016 rankings of public middle schools across the country, with 32 Long Island schools making the list of the top 100 in New York.

That's down from 48 Long Island schools that made the list in Niche's 2015 rankings.

A high ranking, according to Niche, indicates that a school “is an exceptional academic institution with a diverse set of high-achieving students and faculty, and the students are very happy with their experiences.”

The top nine ranked schools on Long Island are all in Nassau County. The top Suffolk County school on the list is Old Field Middle School in the Harborfields School District.
