Are you at risk for Lung Cancer?
South Nassau Communities Hospital is participating in an international early stage lung cancer research study.

South Nassau Communities Hospital, under the direction of Shahriyour Andaz, MD, Director of Thoracic Oncology, and Stewart Fox, MD, Chief of Thoracic Surgery at SNCH is participating in an international research study to determine whether CT (Computer Axial Tomography) screening will help people at high risk for lung cancer by finding cancer earlier.
Over the course of the study, South Nassau Communities Hospital will enroll volunteers who are at high risk for lung cancer but who have no outward symptoms of the disease. Current or former smokers, over the age of 50, with a history of smoking the equivalent of one pack of cigarettes per day, for 20 years, may be eligible to participate in South Nassau Communities Hospital’s Early Lung Cancer Action Project (SNCH -ELCAP).
Two screening CT scans, done one year apart, are provided by the SNCH - ELCAP program free of charge. Results will be sent to participants as well as their primary care physician with appropriate recommendations for follow up. Any follow-up diagnostic and clinical testing recommended as a result of the screening would be the financial responsibility of the participant.
